I can't believe that while living in northern California I drove all the way to do shows in Texas and Alabama. Fairhope was an incredibly cute town just past Mobile and I'd done their Art Festival a time or two. Oddly, they always situated my booth right near the police station. Hmmmm.
Each Saturday nite the Chamber of Commerce, the show producers, held an awards dinner for the artists. And that year, my wife Elaine had chosen to accompany me and see Fairhope. The awards were being announced, by category, and I waited and waited to see if I won anything. Painting? Nothing. Drawing? Nothing. And so not expecting anything else, I stopped paying attention.
Then boom! With great fanfare, the Chamber President, announced that this year's BEST OF SHOW
award will go to Jeff Leedy! Elaine jumped up and screamed! I was stunned! I stumbled up to the stage amidst applause and got my award.
It was a huge boost to my confidence and career. I was elated, big time. Thank you Fairhope!!!
